Do not get Phone service from Cox

I made the huge mistake of switching to Cox telephone service a couple of years ago. At $9.95 a month with 6 months free it was a good deal compared to my $30 a month Verizon bill... I hardly use the land line anymore so it seemed OK... So a few months ago I notice my Cox bill has ballooned to over $200 a month for cable TV, Internet and phone... not suspecting the phone portion since it was only supposed to be $9.95 a month, I disconnected all my movie channels, took out some HDTV and got the bill down... never once did the rep suggest we look at the phone service which I mentioned numerous times was only $9.95 a month... so today I went in to pay my bill and started looking at the charges to discover they had tacked on additional services to the phone bringing it up to over $45 a month!!! I asked for it to be disconnected immediately and requested a refund for the difference between the $45 a month and the $9.95 I had been sold... the rep told me no problem and I left... later on I am at home and now my TV does not work... I get a call from a "supervisor" telling me I have to pay $114 for the phone service or they will shut off my TV and my internet service with them... I told her to go ahead... NEVER buy anything from these criminals. They constantly change prices and use bait and switch, you can't ever be sure what your bill will be.

Bill us for services we did not receive.

We opened our Cox business account over the phone. No written or signed contract. We had to call frequently to get back on line but they were the best around then. Then in 2008 we were told that our modem was outdated and needed to be replaced. We bought a new one because they no longer leased modems. But the problems still continued. So in July 2009 when our contract was up we did not renew. In November 2009 we signed up with Clear and after 1 month of being satisfied with their service we asked Cox for a disconnect. After being given the run around. We finally got the 'disconnect form' and it was faxed in. We have faxed it 5 times and mailed it twice. Cox has yet to 'receive' it. The officer manager spoke to someone who said they received it but there was no disconnect date. Now Julie at Cox tells me that when you do not renew your contract with Cox according to their legal definition, their services role over for 12 months at twice your previous rate!!!

If you are fond of your money please do NOT subscribe to services with Cox communications in AZ. They are not honorable. I called in to get a vacation hold for 6 months. I asked for a confirmation number..was told that they don't give one and that they would take...

COX DVR

Yesterday,10/27/2010, I woke up to a totally different COX DVR. This is a example of a company without a brain. I now have a annoying video delay while surfing. Recording is almost impossible without constant baby sitting.It is harder to navigate and you can lose a scheduled program with extra time by simply scheduling another program during said extra time. You are forced to add way more time to some programs to get all the content, thus using up more space and may cause conflict with other recordings. No one can tell me that anyone at Cox properly tested this update. This will cost Cox, I've already started looking for alternatives.

Cox Communications: How to Lose Customers

September 24, 2010 - Service request submitted for relocation of service, sales representative was helpful and courteous. The transfer of service was set for 10/1/10, and to be a "self install." Friday October 1, 2010 - 10:00 AM Phone services were disconnected at the originating address. 2:00 PM Service was not connected at the destination address. A call was placed to Cox customer service. Cox customer service stated that "self installs" are done no later than 7:00 PM. 8:15 PM Service was still not connected. Another call was placed to Cox customer service. Supervisor James indicated that the technician was on-site, but could not find the drop - where the connection arrives to the house - and documented that a "professional installation" would be required. The technician neglected to leave a door tag. Upon looking in the back yard, it was located within 20 seconds - literally, 20 SECONDS! Supervisor James offered assurances that someone would call the next day (Saturday) to offer further information on the soonest that a technician would be able to come out. At the time Supervisor James said it would be 4 days out (Tuesday). Saturday October 2, 2010 5:00 PM By the end of the day Cox had not called. A call was placed to Cox customer service. A woman representative, utterly unmoved and unapologetic by the poor service experience, caused greater frustration which resulted in a request for the account to be cancelled. 6:45 PM A second call was placed to Cox customer service. Supervisor Corey was updated on the events that preceded the call, and the status of the installation and the failure on Cox's part to follow up. Corey was most apologetic and understanding (kudos) and promised that he would email the sales department and would see that someone calls the next day (Sunday). Sunday October 3, 2010 (Still no phone service) 3:15 PM The day almost over, a call was placed to Cox customer service. Supervisor Dave clarified that the notes had been made on the account and that someone from the sales department was going to call on Monday. When asked why Supervisor Corey would promise that someone would call on Sunday when the sales department is closed, Supervisor Dave said that, "he must have made a mistake." Supervisor Dave was unapologetic and failed to acknowledge a problem. A request was made to receive a call from the Supervisor's-supervisor. Cox has failed to deliver as promised and has mismanaged expectations to astonishing levels in relation to this installation at every point. This is the first of MANY posts/blogs on this issue. Considering it costs 4 to 7 times more to acquire new customers as it does to keep a customer, it is surprising that such poor service exists. I strongly suggest everyone seeking new service choose another provider. Cox is the worst.

It's encouraging to know that people listen; specifically people at Cox Communications.

I am pleased to announce that services were installed on Monday. Furthermore, thanks to the efforts of CoxTech1, I received a call from a manager at Cox who assured me that this case would be evaluated and, where necessary, appropriate action would be taken.

The manager listened, acknowledged and validated - like a good manager should in such circumstances.

Beyond that, the manager offered unsolicited concessions in an effort to reconcile.

This was very much appreciated.

Overall, this is a positive ending to a difficult transition.

I'm happy to say Cox pulled it together and setup service yesterday (Monday).

I don't expect anyone will follow up, and that my frustration with all of it will be mine alone.

If they were to give me a month or two service, it would take the bad taste out of my mouth. Otherwise, it is what it is.

COX Communications - Thieves and Poor Customer Service

WORST Company EVER!!! Don't use them if you have a choice of other companies. Hopefully you will be spared the aggravation and headaches, and just outright criminal thievery that COX seems to get away with. They are stealing from me by keeping my overpayment (and reducing it) that I have requested back on numerous occasions. I only use COX as an ISP, only because I don't have a choice of any other ISP. I used to have them for Cable TV and Phone as well but canned those services due to many problems a couple years ago. Now I don't have a choice for Internet access so am stuck with this TERRIBLE Company. COX has the WORST service I have ever encountered. I overpaid them by accident recently (thought I was paying another creditor of mine, electronically) and it's taking an act of congress to try to get them to pay my money back (hundreds of dollars). COX cashed my electronic check almost 3 weeks ago and now they have been chipping away at my overpayment since it's taking forever to get any cent of a refund from them. If there was another provider in my area, I would switch in a heartbeat. This company has horrendous service to say the least!!!! If you have a choice of another provider, I highly recommend that you go with another company for TV, Phone, and especially Internet access. Save yourself the headaches.

The original installer neglected to put the appropriate filter on the line that removes the upper tier of channels. You were not charged the back payment for receiving these channels without paying for them.

The tech that came out simply corrected the mistake.

The techs are held accountable for all services in the house even if they're just there for one problem. You received a $28/month service for six months for free, and you're still complaining.

Cox is the wost! Engages in fradulent and deceptive business practices.

They lied tome re spreading payment over 3 months when actually it was only a small portion to be spread. Contacted BBB and attorney generals office. Of course Cox was found not to be in the wrong. What a surprise.

Suddenly not all my cable channels were not coming on as usual. The service tech came over and diagnosed it as that I was getting the missing channels for free actually and that they were not supposed to be in my payment plan.

I had it for 6 months now!? Had already gone through the details with the customer svc. center and she was the one recommending that they send a guy to check it out. Once the tech was at the house, he diagnosed 'the issue' in one minute.

And then asked if he could check my internet. I asked why?- I was not having any issue with it and had not asked anyone to come over for that. He said it is standard for them to visit for any issue to also check other issues and that he found that my internet signals were not strong (-10) and he could make it better. He then went outside, disconnected the wires and put a new connector and closed the box and said it should be fine now.

I said there was no issue anyway?! I called Cox in front of him and the guy also said that he could not find anything wrong with my signals that he could check remotely. I gave the phone to the tech and he said some acronyms and numbers and was looking for those issues. The guy vaguely said oh ok.

Please help me understand- since when did customer service/tech calls become proactive and in the best interest of the consumer/customer.

If this is happening to others, then is there some policy change where they are cutting/adapting to new economy? I am thinking of canceling cable because I do not have time to watch them anyway.

I am a Cox Communications customer in New Orleans area for past several years for my high-speed Internet, phone and cable TV. 2010 has been the all-around worst experience I've had with regards to Cox. The newest occurrence is that today I called to add phone service at my NEW home. The installation is scheduled for Sept. 18 and today is Sept. 9. Being that I do not have the phone service yet, I saw a promotion for Cox telephone at $9.99/month so called in to modify my phone service order with that promotion. The Cox rep told me she could not do that since the order had already been put in. So I asked her to cancel the order. She transferred me to another department, saying that she could not cancel the order, either. Once transferred, the 2nd rep heard my request for the 9.99 offer or else cancel, and she put me on hold. It has been 30 minutes, and I am STILL ON HOLD!!!! I am entirely fed up with Cox and tired of being milked for every penny with their arbitrary rate changes, their stupid promotions and their POOR DISGRACEFUL customer service. They have a long way to go to repair their reputation with me and other consumers. At this point, they will need to hire a marketing guru consultant to get their reputation back on track and keep their customers! I have tried to enter your jobs to apply for a position. The response has been not a valid email address which I have been using for 10 years and that I do not have a secondary phone or fax number. I have only 1 home phone and 1 cell phone and have had these numbers for about 5 yeaRS. I have 1 computer which is on Cox internet and which also carries my phone and my cell phone is a Cricket of which I am very pleased with their service, it is much better than the other systems. Cox Communications-Use at your own risk

I moved from somewhere with Comcast to somewhere with Cox. The service was terrible from day 1 (down to an agent calling me a *** under her breath). I am extremely patient with people, but the service is the worst of any company I've ever dealt with. They couldn't connect service due to a broken down car in front of the pole. They had no answer for it, just "too bad". I had already paid a $170 deposit and first month. This has been 3 weeks, it was on a debt card that was charged within 1 second. I have gone in, called about 15 times, been refused to speak to a manager, and still no money. I am sure at this point I will never see that money again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE COMMON THEIFS!! Do whatever it takes to avoid them; satellite, PC wireless card (which is what I did), or steal it! ***, they stole from me!!

Installer didnt show up tried to move service that was two weeks called DTV checking as to when installer would show up between 8 and 12 that was at 11 called at 1:30 when showing up will in 30 mins called at 4:00 spk with supervisor dont know when call first time it move the time two more hours out ? then told me could install for 30 days if and when i get service i will have to stay for one more year and will go back to cox worst company ever the dumbest people i have ever seen

About 8 months ago I was forced (by Cox) to get a business account due to the large volume of emails (group emails) that I send to business clientele. Since the institution of the new account I've had no less than 5 or 6 times where my email service has been shut down....apparently by your "Spam House". I've followed all directions given by their Tech team (I'm sure I've spoken to everyone there) and today I'm having the same issues again. Supervisor Tracy has sent another (4th or 5 time) message to the Atlanta Email "team" for a quick resolution to todays issue. (Last time this happened it took 5 days to fix the issue). I'm wondering why I was forced to get a business account when Cox is not allowing me to do business ?

COX CABLE

I called cox cable to ask for a two day extension on my bill. They said no and where really rude and ugly and said if I didn't come pay them right then in cash, they would cut my service off. So i went to the bank leaving my dying dog which is why i needed two more days to pay so I could take her to the vet and went and paid them. MY dog died the next day in my arms. I totally blame cox for her death and I remind them every month. She was my heart. BH PENSACOLA fl.

Cox customer service is terrible

Please join me in condeming Cox Communication. They are trying to become a monopoly in the Cable TV, Internet, and Phone world. In San Diego, the have the market cornered on MLB, so I have to stay with them if I want to see my home team. We need more choices, not COX! Their customer service claims to be the best, but they are not even close. Their equipment is low tech compared to others (Tivo), and is very unreliable. I am on my 4th HD DVR and it still crashes about every two days. Its slow to respond, it needs resetting about every day, they are basically pieces of ***. If you are lucky enough to get through when you call, customer support is terrible. You get some tech who might have been selling vacuums door-to-door the week before; or at least it seems like that is their skill level. They always give you canned answers, with canned procedures, that never work. Their phone system consists of a computer generated lady's voice that they want you to talk to so they can "get you to the right person". The thing rarely understands you and when it does send you somewhere, if it doesn't hang up on you first, its almost always the wrong place. Once you are sent, you might as well take a nap, because no one will answer for a long time. When I do get someone on the phone, they are usually very professional, but by the time I do get someone, I have been through so much BS, that I am already pissed off. Then when they send someone out to your house, they are not Cox people, they are independent contractors. They are usually nice and do a good job, but you have to be home on a week day during normal working hours and you have to block out 2 hours. I guess they think all their customers are independently wealthy and don't have to work.

Cox Sucks!!!

Wisest thing I did was dump Cox Telephone services,...I would pick up the phone and not have a dial tone countless times..sometimes for an hour,...sometimes for days..had them out countless times...all sorts of excuses, all sorts of ***...but when it comes to an emergency..what the heck would we have been able to do..not being able call out or even recieve a call in!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Why I have held on to the Internet Services so long...,LOL, I will never know...high Speed???That's a joke isn't it? HORRIBLE TECHS on the PHONE...even WORSE are the techs they send to your home who blame the BLACK HOLE in their SERVICES on everything but themselves. My advice...go with anyone else other than COX..!!
