Do not do business with Cox Communications!

Do not do business with Cox Communication. Three trips to get the installation done for starters. Two times raising the rates without notice. Then when we had to move, they refused to send someone out to pick up the cable hardware. When the hardware was picked up by a service technician, it was apparently never checked in and I was told that We had to pay for the equipment. When I refused they posted a derogatory remark on my credit report. I have filed a dispute and am still waiting for resolution; but the best solution for the consumer would be for them to go out of business.

Preferred solution: Remove the derogatory credit report remark, zero the balance on the account, and acknowledge that the cable hardware was returned.

What could possibly have prevented you from returning the equipment to the company, whose name sounds like how they act ... ?

You must learn to CYA and should have a nifty little receipt relieving you of obligation. You're probably not going to win this one and shouldn't have let it become a problem.

Costumer service and field techs are terrible.

So January 2017 we started having bad internet speeds. Called cox and they sent out a tech, when he arrived he said it appears your getting terrible signal strength from the main tap from the pole. Our pole is in a neighbors back yard which is fenced. He went and knocked on the door with no answer so nothing he could do but put in for a crew to come out within 72 hours. In the mean time we changed the channels on our router to try and get better speeds. Which worked and actually were getting speeds that we’re paying for 150 down and 10 up. Cox continued to come out three different times in the next three weeks and never made it in the back yard cause no one answered the door when they came out. So it never got fixed. Now it’s January 13 2018, and I’ve got the same problem but it’s way worse. No matter what we do are speeds are slow and unstable. We’ve had 4 different techs in less than a week. The first tech scheduled to have a crew come out to change the tap. He showed up two days later and said there was an outage and we should be fine after that (I wasn’t home at the time) and left. Called them back that day and told them to send someone out to do it the next day cause it was the main tap and not an outage. Tech came out and said the same thing, but again couldn’t get to the back yard cause no one answered the door, so I would have to set up for another day. So I went myself set a time for someone to be there when cox came out and this time the tech said he didn’t do that and he was setting up for a crew to come out and do the work and they didn’t need promition to go in the back yard. It’s been a year now and still can’t get them to fix this problem. If I had a choice of another internet provider I would have already left cox, but I don’t so just gonna continue to call and complain everyday now till this is fixed!!

"Just a simple home phone service went wrong"

On March 8th I decided to add a home phone to my resident. Called Cox and talked with a rep about getting the service started. He took my money and told me that I will have service in 15 minutes. Well I still don't have service. I called and got the phone tag service and finally talked with someone and he told me that they have to build a connection for my phone and it should take 24-48 hours. That made me so excited I couldn't restrain myself. How can a promise of 15 minutes turn into 24-48 hours. Now if anyone ask me about getting Cox service I will tell them my experience to everyone I can and I will go out of my way to let everyone know how Cox lied about their service. Cox didn't care if we are both on Social Security. We called them to see if we could get our bill lowered a little, because we were paying almost $200 a month for phone, internet and tv. We had been a cox customer for over 9 years. They said they couldn't lower it. Friends of ours had been a Cox customer for about 3 years and they are paying $135 a month. Does that seem fair to you? And our friends are not on social security. Cox SUCKS....

Check to see if you are still under contract with them. If not then switch provides.

Simple. You also have a bit of a bargaining chip by calling customer service and asking them how to send their equipment back.

They might work with you to keep you as a customer. Ask if they have a customer retention department.

Cox is the Worst Cable Provider in the US

Ordered service transfer online for 2 phone lines and Internet service 2 weeks prior to local move on Jan. 12, 2018.

I spoke to someone at Cox customer service who said everything was set on or about Wed. , Jan. 3, 2018. The following morning my phone was dead, contacted Cox Tech.

Supp. and was told the order was input incorrectly, spent 45 mins. to have phone restored by higher level tech., who assured me all of my service transfer needs were scheduled for Jan. 12, 2018.

Friday I received a call from Cox asking me if I cancelled my service transfer, explained everything, and they said it was all set then for Jan. 12, 2018. Today I receive a call from Cox saying no service transfer is set-up, asked for a supervisor, and told the soonest is now Jan. 16, 2018.

The absolute pinnacle of incompetence exists and abounds at Cox. I don't fee they care about their customers, and their respective needs at all. This is unprofessional, and needs to be corrected.

I need to have my services transferred and available on Jan. 12, 2018.

Why does anyone consider service from Cox, they are horrible in regards to customer service, nice representatives, however their policies are the worst....I'll do without service and use my cell coverage before getting their service after getting screwed royally today by Cox!!!!!!!

Been told something different by everyone I talked to and they don't care. I was going to cancel everything so they said they would give me a special deal.

Never told me that they were going to take away certain channels that I watch. Talked to the Loyalty Department and said they would give the channels back at no extra cost. THEY NEVER GAVE THEM BACK! Call again and they said it would cost me a lot of money of I wanted them back.

I told them I was told that they would give them back at no extra cost and they said they cant do that. They said a supervisor would listen to the first phone conversation and give me a call back. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK! I called them again and argued with them about what I was told and they acted like they didn't care.

I wasted a lot of time on the phone and got no where with them. I guess it dont matter that I've been with them for over 23 years. There is nothing loyal about the Loyalty department and most of them have no clue what they're doing. I was going to cancel about a month ago because my bill was too high and instead of lowering my bill it's the highest it's ever been this month.

THEY REALLY KNOW HOW TO RIP OFF THEIR COSTUMERS!!! If I can find something better I'm going to cancel everything.

I have been using COX for more than 2 years. At the end of the 2 years expired the discount I have received when I joined.

I phoned to COX to get a new financial arrangement or I would leave to another provider. On the phone I was ensured that I could keep the same fee. But it did not happen and I had a considerable increase. I phoned again to explain they lied to me.

They did not care (despite the phone calls are recorded) and we renegotiated a new arrangement where I gave up a few functions to keep my bill at the level I wanted. This was an ensured fee but it lasted only a few months and they have increased it again without notice. I phone again (all phone calls recorded but they do not care) and they told me that is because I got a 6 month discount which was not the deal. Lie again and again.

COX: they are the biggest liars I have ever seen. Never join this company who do not respect their costumers!

Priced doubled

I had switched from att to cox because they were offering a lower monthly rate plus higher speed internet. I was hospitalized and missed a payment . By the time I got back to them they had disconnected service and were telling me I had to pay a $400 deposit plus I was being charged an early termination fee of $190. Since they have terminated the service after two weeks they told me I would no longer be eligible for the original comtract. After telling them I had been hospitalized due to an accident and several surgeries they told me that they would credit the $190 early termination fees but could not give me my original contract because it was no longer available . My monthly bill went from $149 to $302 . Upon reviewing my bill it showed no credit for the $190. To ad insult to injury, i never received the $200 gift card for signing up.

At 12 a.m. the channel i was watchimg is the only one i can view. I call the # they provide... and cox says it will only last for 6 hours. I fewl lile i should get a 25% reduction for today in my bill. Plus, my internet, thru Cox, sucks now as well. No wonder cable is dying. Just die already. Time to cancel and cut the overpriced cord!!!

Had the Cox guy come over he look like he was a 17 year old kid with piercings all over went up to my daughter's room and told him that a lot of the times when we turn the TV on it says there's no signal coming in from Cox. He then assumed that I was stupid and that the error message was coming from my TV because I didn't have the TV on the right input and was getting an error from my TV. FALSE! I was completely offended that he assumed that I didn't know the difference between a Cox error message and an error message from my TV from wrong input. He then asked me if my daughter's room was my room! Again, I was offended as she is 7 years old and has kids stuff all over her room and obviously is a child's room and I told him already it was my daughter's room... I had just been talking to him about my bedroom and how there was nothing wrong in my master bedroom. I also have a problem and have to reset my box in living room all the time because it glitches out and freezes on me. Because it didn't do it in front of him he didn't do anything about it and didn't believe me. Also it asks me to rename my box a lot of times when I turn my box on something you should only do once at setup. It seems like some kind of issue with connection. My signal strength is strong so he said but my daughter's room says it doesn't get signal half the time and won't play anything. My box downstairs in my living room has to be reset all the time because it glitches and freezes out. There is also a delay when you click to change anything on the remote. Another upstairs bedroom also glitches and freezes and has to be reset. Basically he changed out some things in my walls saying that they needed to be changed out but nothing has changed with my service. Basically all I got was a disrespectful kid and a waste of my time. I just moved here at this house I've been in this house for a month I've already had to reset the boxes like three times and I've already had a technician out here. At my last house it was the exact same way all the time to the point where they actually had to reimburse me money. I was hoping to not have this issue at this house because I thought hey maybe it's just my house maybe it's some kind of wiring issue but nope it's a Cox issue. They have horrible horrible technicians that seem like they're straight out of prison or know it all punk children. Their service is ***

Started using Cox years ago. Over time, they have gone downhill. Lately I have been getting phone calls during the day and evening, I am on the Government No Call list and have reported it to them. I contacted Cox today and they say nothing they can do, BUT if I were to get their PREMIUM telephone plan they could block the calls. I thanked them for their customer service and looking for a new provider. Their rates are continuing to increase and only other one in town has left. Looks like only thing left is to go satellite but don't want the dish installed on the roof. Some company needs to move in an take them out of business. Nothing left for low/limited incomes.

For the past 2 months I have been blown off, lied to and wasted several days on phone with no results. Paying for services and no tv. Worst company ever. Please consider hiring and training your staff to do the job. Constantly losing time from work for them to tell you they have you down for a different day. Don’t tell me there was a fence, dog and no access when I live in a condo with none if these and watched for tech from 7 am till 7 pm and lost a days pay and this happened 4 times in 2 months

cox is worst company ever I know . I live in Manchester, CT there is no other high speed internet company so I have no other option.

so I have to use cox, they increase the bill, worst customer service. every time when I call to change the service the tell you best price and change service . but they never change the service still be same, couple of time I record the call and employee id , they said sorry , but they never change the service, so I need call every other month to fix the bill , but they never listen , if I have money I will sue this company , to go out of business ,I never seen like that company in my 40 year life. cox company make people more sick .

because this company have no competition .

i will suggest everyone if you have any other option please don't use this company .there is no any personal issue with company . only my last 17 years company experience with this company .

I and my daughter have been having issues of this Bait switch like rip off. I am a past Executive in the Customer Service Business. I am also a combat disabled Viet Vet. All of the info I obtained from 5 Cox and Rewards people was all different. The last person was a supervisor and asked for 3 days to see if he could fix. I set the acct. up with auto pay on the 14th of Sept 2017 it took till 9/22 to set. Plenty of time to make the pmt. But they did not and took double pmt next month? I will write back if successful, my daughter gave up. I will then go to the Atty. General and the T.V. people. This seems to be a real intended ripp off to consumers.
