Loss of channels

Details
Cox just shut off some of my channels, and I was told by tech support I would have to pay $78.00 to get those three channels back...that is price gouging. I am elderly and disabled and $78.00 buys my food. Shame in Cox. My daughter helped me get a streaming service and I get hundreds of channel for free.

User's recommendation: Go to streaming thier channels. You get more channels for less.

Horrible Customer Service

Details
Due to my children and so many others are now doing online learning I called the trusted COX for the best internet service. I was at this time told there was a $100.00 deposit and to pay an old bill so I did. I later went online a week later to view my bill and the automated system stated that I owed $508.60! So I called and was transferred multiple times and no resolve on my behalf. So after 12 calls I have come to the conclusion that COX truly does not offer any true customer service. They are simply looking to line their pockets and take advantage of single moms like me and so many others. Shame on you COX and just when I thought worrying about the CORONAVIRUS was my biggest worry, now a I can add an outlandish COX bill to my worries.

User's recommendation: Do not sign up for COX!!!!!

Details
The Cox installer was here four hours connecting four TV receivers and a modem. He was on the phone almost that whole time. They have been out twice since. Replaced the modem. Today my wife returned her receiver. This replacement seems to work, but I'm not holding my breath. WHY DID THEY INSTALL USED HARDWARE?

I lots of problems I thought with my cable box. I called Cox the guy came out said he did some stuff and left. It was still bad. A young man came today on August 31st 2019 I had recently changed some of the things on my service they had a hard time getting my Netflix hooked up. I finally gave up and didn't do it. This guy called somebody and they did something and he did something and they figured out that the whole thing was a mess on my account they straightened it out my TV Works wonderful cheers for Cox. Contract Scam

Details
I was told numerous times that I am not able to cancel any of my services because of a 2 yr contract. I checked this out at the Scottsdale location on Frank Lloyd Wright location and noticed not in one area is my initials or signature visual. Mean while I feel like this is a giant SCAM!

Contour - Cox's Monument to Their Stupidity

Cox's new Contour box maybe new, but it certainly doesn't offer anything in the way of improved. We have had nothing but trouble in the 2 (long) months we have had this system; picture constantly freezing, tiling on many channels, sometimes no sound. We can't turn off the box unless we unplug it (major fire hazard), remote oftentimes doesn't work (no it's not the batteries), recording of repeat episodes often fails, the reboot process is ridiculously long, So what is the reason that Cox decided to downgrade their service to everyone with an inferior bugged infested product? New is not always better! It would be another thing if Cox offered their customers the choice to stick with their previous system or "upgrade" (really downgrade), but instead it is forced upon everyone and we all have to suffer. Why? There was nothing broken or that needed fixing with the previous system, so Cox goes ahead and forces a really bad product on everyone. This is supposed to be a tech company and we all know that it is going to take them years if and when they debug their "new" system. Cox just rewrote the book on how to lose friends and turn away customers. Cox in tech speak means CRAP!

Slow internet

I've been with them for 30 years. And like all ISP services they keep getting more customers. In turn, eating up their bandwidth. This causes Slow Internet. Then they sell us a speed upgrade, so we can cover their expense to update their hardware, Great isn't it , we pay for their research and development! And the price goes higher and higher and higher.......

Suddenly lost the sports channels

I spent over 2 hours,mostly on repeated"holds",talking to service reps who mumbled nonsense and never helped me.Twice I called back after my phone connection dropped.I didn"t call back a fourth time because I believe it was time to go on break and they simply hung up.

Also contact your congress critters to urge that cable and internet be regulated as utilities. Also complain to your local franchise authority.

Enough complaints can actually get the cable company FIRED!! I know because we did it to AT&T when the took over cable services in Jacksonville, FL.

I just like to take the time out of my day to write this letter because I received outstanding service and knowledge of products from by Universo home tech by the name of LEIF YORGASON this guy was great and very knowledgeable about products offered through Cox I had the Cox Homelife security system and it worked for about three days and then it *** out and I’ve had two other technicians here trying to fix it whom weren’t so friendly this poor guy spent almost 5 hours in my home trying to figure out the problem and fix what he could but more in Porten Lee he sold me on the whole security package which I just ordered so I just like to get your big thanks and recommend LEIF he should be a universal tech trainer and training all the rest of these technicians on Great customer service and up selling out that he went above and beyond just wanted to say thanks God bless

We lost land line phone and internet service on Friday the 21st and the earliest a tech can come to our home is Sunday the 23rd after 5 pm. Have been without service during a time when we are trying to handle business transactions in other states. This is by far the worst service I’ve had in regards to anything I’ve been associated with. Would never recommend cox to friends or family.

Bait and Switch! Where is honesty and integrity?

Worst customer service ever! 9-2-18: Tried "chat" because I couldn't get logged on to my online Cox account. Was asked security question about name of my first pet. I have never owned a pet, but representative said there was an answer there. Since I didn't know the answer, she could not help me and she suggested I call customer care. She gave me a number 800-234-3993. I called and ended up listening to 10 consecutive ads trying to sell services, and then finally a message that the number had been changed! I went back to website to find a customer care number. Called and got help to get logged in; then found I had already been billed (only 2 days after installation) --and the amount was much higher than the promotion bundle I was sold!! So, I was transferred to Billing Department. I purchased a bundle for $69.99 to include internet/modem, VOIP phone (and Cox would provide phone), cable/DVR for 24 mos.-- no contract. I was sold this bill of goods by Sam at 855-312-1730 on 8/23/18 -- avoid him!! My first bill 2 days after installation was $112.75. I learned upon installation that Cox does not provide phone -- Sam just doesn't know his business! Billing department (Shay) could see the $69.99 promotion, but said she couldn't do anything so she sent me to loyalty campaign dept.; loyalty department said that the pricing did not include modem and DVR (even though Sam specifically mentioned those were included in the promotion bundle). Even removing those components from the bill $12.99 and $9.99) doesn't make the bill add up to $112.75??? Bait and switch! Now loyalty dept. says they can remove phone (which I didn't want anyway), and reduce bill by $10/mo. -- and that the ports on modem would be inactive, so I could not use those ports??? Well, I need at least one of the ports. They say they cannot reduce bill any more than that unless I want to give up DVR. This is bait and switch at its finest!! What happened to honesty and integrity? Plus I have now spent an unsuccessful and frustrating 2 hours trying to straighten this out. Finally I got a $2.00 concession (from loyalty dept.) on DVR!!! WOW! Can anyone recommend a provider with integrity and honesty? I'm looking! I am a very unhappy customer, and it's only been 2 days!!

Details
I signed up for what i thought was TV and internet, was tricked into two year home monitoring. I cancelled service after 8 days... Cox threatened to sue me for early termination, ruin my credit, make me lose my home, etc. My lawyer said they(Cox) have spent thousands in order to collect hundreds. They are the {{Redacted}} of the communication industry!!!

TV went on and off

Details
Our TV would be on for a while, and then would go off. A message came on, 'not supported'. This went on for over 6 days. Tried to reach Cox, and could not get through. They said, 'five minute wait', after 20 minutes, still no one answered. Finally, I reached Tech Support. One person told me that the problem was 'sun spots'. Another, support person told me to bring the box in, and exchange it. I asked to have a technician come to the house. They said he would be there between one and three. He never came. He was cancelled without my knowledge. Then, after all of the lies, I was told that they had had an 'outage' that was the cause of the problem. The TV was working for a time, and then the same thing happened again. Now, it seems to be working. The whole Telecom industry needs to be investigated by Congress. Customers are being given poor service, and being 'gouged' at the same time. Maybe, the answer is Netflix, or something along those lines. However, you need Wi-Fi, and who supplies that?
