Customer loyalty office said I could not remove home phone with out paying to upgrade my home to fiber!!!

After 30 years with a home line, I finally decided to get rid of it in favor of a cell phone (that I've had for 20 years).

I contacted cox and they connected me to the "customer loyalty office". I explained (again) that I wanted to cancel my home line.

They spent 20 minutes trying to talk me out of cancelling the home (VOIP) phone.

When I still insisted that I wanted to cancel the phone, the women told me that I would have to pay to upgrade my home to fiber before I could cancel the phone line. I adamantly told her that I was not going to pay to have a service stopped. She then told me that she could arrange to do the work for half price. I told her that I was not going to pay anything to have a service stopped!!!

She insisted that she had no choice.

( I have a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering and know full well that converting my house to fiber in order to cancel the phone line was ridiculous.) I insisted on speaking with her manager.

After two hours and two levels of management, cox finally agreed to just cut off the phone line.

(They will charge me rent for the modem...this I expected.)

I was very strongly left with the impression that cox was going to take advantage of an older gentlemen because they thought they could easily intimidate him into paying for an upgrade that he didn't want or need. It was only my tenacity and engineering background that prevented them from succeeding.

I wonder how many other elderly people that cox pulls that routine on???

Cox is only loyal to itself and its money, not the customer. Could be in financial trouble from how they act.

Might have been decent at one time but appears to be struggling now.

Wonder if Cox will be around in a short time from now. Lots of complaints and legal action against Cox - go online and check these for yourself.

Fire Cox like I did. But first, complain to the attorney general in your state, the FCC, the FCC, the BBB, and the public utilities commission in your state.

Have them serve Cox with your complaint and they will be forced to reply within a certain period of time.

Google Cox and look at the illegalities it has been caught doing. Dump that chump.

Wrongfully Charged for Equipment - Now Threatened with Collections

I've been a loyal Cox customer for many, many years. I've moved to different homes and always returned equipment upon moving out.

When I moved from my home on, I called to disconnect my services and was told to "leave the equipment at the residence". I told the representative that sounded strange and asked her if she was sure. She said, yes. She added that there is no cost for non-returned equipment so I'd be fine.

A few weeks later, I received a bill for $200.

Naturally, I called Cox to explain. I was told at that time that I was only supposed to "leave half of the equipment a the residence and return the other half". I explained that I did what I was told, that I'd sold the house, and a new family lives there. I was then told there was nothing they could do and I was responsible for the payment.

I then called my realtor to get in touch with the new home owners who told me they went with Cox service as well. They shared that Cox rep installed their Internet with a new modem and took the old modem with them. I call Cox back to explain this and was told they would "submit it a form" to try to locate the equipment.

I called back several times to follow up on this and was either told that no form was submitted or that a form had been submitted but the equipment was not found.

Today, I received a notice that if I don't pay the $200, my account will be sent to a collections agency and this will negatively affect my credit. I cannot believe this is happening.

It has causes so much stress! If I would have been told to return the equipment, I would have... just like I have every time in the past. I did exactly what I was told by the Cox rep in leaving the equipment at the residence.

After countless calls to Cox, I'm being told that I'm responsible for the fee and that no one can help me. Now I'm being threatened with collections.

Just got a Cox cable hook up less than a month ago and already the cable went out and they cant help us by phone. They said that they had to send someone out there would be $100 charge. Obviously this is insane since I just spent $100 having them set it up

Cox Mishandling ACP applicants

I applied for and got approved by the ACP Program. Next step contact provider. First rep sent me back to ACP to apply! Next rep sent me to ID ME to apply to ACP program again. I kept asking for a supervisor and they would not refer me. I have the ACP ID and verification! If COX dont want to help veterans opt out of program. I need to find another provider.

Contour

Cox was a great service until they forced us to change our DVR to Contour, and it's been nothing but trouble since. Weekly multiple loss of service from 2 hours to 3 days without cable. Has to be a problem with design or software as multiple people experience same issues. On phone with tech support interrupted him telling about neighbors, and he said to continue he had a script to follow ?????

Expect an IS THE WORST: Please read this!

1st

I told Cox I was taking a break from they're internet service. They made a big fuss about it.

(My tech guy said to get Tmobile's internet because it's way faster & it would take cox millions to catch up)

2nd

Today (April 8, 2022 im paying $174 for cable) I told my father to watch & see how Cox makes it difficult to leave their cable..

I was on the phone for almost an hour telling them I'm leaving their cable, they had the audacity to ask me: What are you going to do about cable then?! I said it's none of your business to ask me that, however I said I'm tired of price rises because we only have regular channels. The Cox Guy said I have HBO, Starz, Showtime & Max. I said no, I never ordered those channels.

He said I've had them since I got rid of internet.

I told him I never Ordered or Gave Permission to have those Channels.

He Did Not Deny that Fact about the Channels I didn't Order -Yet Argued on -If you leave you will lose your loyalty plan and can't do anything about if you come back.

(There's more than what I'm saying right now but everyone should get the point. Cox loyalty is only they're pockets)

Was told I would have my service installed on 2/20 he came out and found out the pedestal was in my neighbors yard they were not home so had to reschedule for wensday call today and sis not going to make it so they reschedule again know it will be another week before they can get here cancel my old provider the day they were spouse to up the new on up know not knowing when or if they will show up very unsatisfied

Never had service but they are taking me to collections

In March 2020 I moved to an apartment that used Cox services. Vegas was on the *** of shutting down from Covid. I had no rideshare job. Then I picked up equipment from the cox location. After that I had no service for months as Cox could not get it to work. At least 5 or 6 techs came out and only one tech got it to work for 12 hours. Then it died again. I have told them so many times. Now they are suddenly sending my account to collections . I HAD MAYBE 10 HRS OF CABLE SERVICE. PERIOD. Not paying for a service that was never provided. I was warned about Cox. Big mistake to try them out after 35 yrs in Vegas.

Woke up Thanksgiving morning to an internet outage at 7:00am. I understand it's a holiday so I assumed manning at Cox would be limited. I first tried to find out if there was an outage in my area using their website, when I went to the website it said there was no outage in my area. So now I'm going through my network trying to troubleshoot my system because Cox says there is no outage! After about 30 minutes I could find no issues I tried to call support and received no answer. I called several times and finally received an answer (automated) gave them my zip code and was told there is an outage in my area. The issue was resolved around 12:30

Bill needs adjustment due to TV not working since last week of August

TV stopped working properly last week if August. TV goes out every 5 minutes. Sometimes comes back and most times does not. 2 Technicians have been to house. Last one was helping us Bc of Hurricane Ida. Pur problem started way before The Hurricane. He was from California. He seemed as a very good Technician But he changed the main box not all boxes and left. 10 minutes later TV went out We expect a reduction in our September bill and any other times such as this month since TV has not been repaired. Everyone got a storm credit and that was nice but we have not had service before Ida. Can you please call me Thanks Ms Ayers 78 years and my husband is 80. I have been charged 2 months un payed when I did and brought the receipts and still had to pay for the mistakes they made.then called to make a payment and was charged $26 then called again just to make sure a second later then was charged $52 repeated again then was charged $105.12 then again just to test out to see how far they would go $205.what in the world are they doing ripping off the customers they're trying to keep from streaming.Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
