Atten: Customer Service

I’m writing about the poor service I received over a billing query I've had with Cox Communications since I first signed up with the company October 13, 2015. Today, August 23, 2018, I visited the Cox store on Las Positas/State Street in Santa Barbara to ask, why, again, Cox has pushed up my billing date (starting a few years back as the 7th of the month, now at the 2nd of the month).

After explaining the billing cycle to me umpteenth times because he thought I didn’t understand it, the Cox employee asked me to “prove it” (that my billing cycle had changed). I told him to look at his files, which, he claimed, only went back as far as April 3, 2017 (still, one day later than I’m currently being billed for). And so, he couldn’t “prove” that I had not had my billing date moved up a week (6 days) since I opened it.

Yes, it’s not a huge deal, but I feel like Cox is trying to squeeze another week’s payment from me. If my billing cycle is from the 13th to the 12th (as the employee claimed), why does Cox need to be paid on the 2nd? Every time I turn around, Cox finds new things to bill me for, and new ways to irritate me. For instance, recently I got rid of my phone and some channels in order to lower my bill. Two months later, Cox raised my rates (this, right after Cox and other corporations got a massive tax cut). Why?

To add insult to injury, my Internet (which buffers like crazy) and television constantly crap out. I’m always having to reboot. Do I expect Cox to do something about all of this? No. When there’s no competition (as in another cable company), there’s no reason to treat customers fairly and stop finding ways to get them to pony up another dollar. One request though, stop airing those television commercials that state “more people choose Cox” … it’s not a choice when you’re the only cable company in town.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Monetary Loss: $25.

Preferred solution: Go back to when I signed up, and reinstate that billing date. Stop billing me early!!!.
